Authentic Shodo & Suibokuga Teachers in English, from Japan

Rare Treasures

This page is dedicated to the sensei I have encountered throughout my journey of learning and pursuing certification in Shodo and Suibokuga.

Finding authentic Shodo and Suibokuga teachers here in the United States—whether online or in person—has never been easy. To me, these instructors are rare treasures. Having studied with each of them, I know firsthand the deep devotion, care, and labor of love they pour into their students and their craft.

Their offerings span Shodo, Sumi-e, Suibokuga, and even Nihonga, offered through interactive online sessions, self-paced study formats, and in-person workshops depending on the teacher.

Whether you are working toward formal mastery or simply seeking to experience the mindful flow and Zen presence found in every brushstroke, I hope you find the right guide for your path here.
